I will share with guests mixed media techniques I have perfected over the course of my career as an artist. The workshop is held in the barn at Swallowtail Studios, a laid back environment surrounded by stained glass windows and art. Step by step I will demonstrate my process but you are welcome to take a break and enjoy the inspiration at anytime, there is a lounge area in the barn complete with books to spark your imagination. I will provide a gourmet lunch and sangria but if the muse has taken you feel free to keep on working; often guests will take lunch while working, not wanting to interrupt the creative flow. Guests will leave with a finished masterpiece to take home.
Michelle And Bill
I have been a professional mixed media artist for over 30 years, many years ago my husband and I bought historic Swallowtail Studios and it has been both a labor of love and my biggest art endeavour. Swallowtail studios is ripe with a long history in the arts and serves as both inspiration and my greatest creative project. I have discovered how much I love sharing this magical space and my technical skills with visitors. I'm also a gourmet cook and love to entertain, lets spend an afternoon eating, drinking and making art.
A delicious home cooked organic meal from our gardens and neighboring properties will be served with sangria.
All materials and equipment for creating collage will be provided.
Swallowtail Studios studios has a rich history in the arts, once a favorite hangout of The Grateful Dead and Timothy Leary it is named for the renowned glass blowing commune that was here in the 1970's. The property continues to be home to working artists and includes treehouses, fairy houses, gardens, woods, fields and is surrounded by horses, goats, cows and wildlife; a totally rural experience only 6 minutes drive from downtown Petaluma.
Spend the afternoon making art in a historic location. This workshop is great for both art professionals and novices who just want a unique experience; magical Swallowtail studios will inspire your inner artist.
