We will greet you at the top of the gangway in North Cove just 100 yards from the World Trade Center. You will be invited on board our 1929 Nationally Landmark, the classic schooner Shearwater, given a short safety speech and orientation where questions will be answered, you will then be offered a refreshment by one of the crew; and we will motor off the dock and get underway. We will raise sails once we have cleared the marina and sail around the harbor for approx. 2 hours . You will be able to walk around the vessel and tour the below deck cabins and are invited to engage my knowledgeable crew with any questions you might have as we sail past the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, Governors Island, in view of bridges and other landmarks of NY Harbor. Enjoy a plentiful classic NYC brunch buffet, tea and coffee service, juice and soft drinks, as well as an open Champagne bar. Slowly sip your mimosas and take in the New York skyline. With the wind in your hair, Seagulls, buoys, foghorns and passing ships and tugboats will add to the serene and exciting respite from your busy NYC day that will leave you energized and ready for more.
Other things to note
Sailing is an outdoor experience. Dress for the weather. Sunscreen, hat, etc. Please confirm trip 24 hrs prior. Arrive 15 mins early. Duration is approx. 2 hours. You will most likely share the boat with others that are not in your group.

Your host will be me; the food is catered in. I have offered Brunch on board since 2001; I take pride in offering an intimate, casual alternative for enjoying the once-in-a-lifetime experience of sailing (& eating!) here in NY harbor. You will avoid the intense crowds of much larger boats.
I am a born & bred NYer & first began volunteering aboard an historic sailboat in NY Harbor over 30 yrs ago. I hold USCG issued 100-ton captain's license; I have been sharing my love of sailing large vintage schooners under the majestic gaze of the Statue of Liberty and the NY Skyline with locals & visitors to NY for the past 19 years. The Shearwater is a Gatsby Era private yacht built in 1929 - the height of the Roaring '20s; she was the last luxury sail vessel built prior to the Stock Market Crash that heralded in the Great Depression. Its awesome!

An amazing way to see some of the wonderful sights of New York; a beautiful Gatsby Schooner with a variety of tasty food, unlimited drinks and a friendly and knowledgable crew. Definitely a "must do" experience for visitors to this incredible city.

We booked the Champagne Brunch Sail on our last day in NY and we're super happy we were able to end our trip on such a great experience. All of the guys on the boat were very friendly and knowledgable about the landmarks that we sailed by, but a special shout out goes to Levi, who we talked to the most. Great spread of brunch items and bottomless drinks, great photo ops by the Statue of Liberty, Governors Island, etc. Would definitely recommend to anyone visiting NYC!

There were high points and low points. High points: the woman bringing the drinks did everything she could to keep our glasses full. Thank you! The meeting location was easy to find. Low points: In my opinion, there was an unsafe number of people aboard. They ran out of places to sit and we were forced to stand for the entire time. They didn't reef the sails until we were well out of the marina. We sat in the irons for a long time while the crew scurried trying to figure it out. That would have been fine, but it was a windy day and there were a lot of elderly people aboard who needed help navigating around because of the pitch. We helped them. There was plenty of food, but only because a hoard descended upon the buffet that no one was paying attention to, grabbing significant amounts of food WITH THEIR BARE HANDS and putting it back or distributing it in other trays. No one was managing this process. My friend and I were so disgusted by the lack of hygiene that we refused to eat. Between that, standing, and playing usher to people who really needed it and were struggling because of how crowded the boat was, it was a very unpleasant experience I wouldn't recommend to anyone.

It was amazing to sail on this antique schooner.The crew were very friendly and caring. We are in our 70’s so needed a little help getting around,etc. They anticipated every need.
The quality and variety of the food served was excellent.I especially enjoyed the wraps and the fresh fruit salad.Oh,and the mimosas were outstanding,made with Lambrusco and freely poured.
We thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience and the harbor views of downtown Manhattan,Statue of Liberty,Ellis Island,Staten Island and Brooklyn were breathtaking.
