活動內容

When you first arrive we will start with a chat about your current lifestyle and any injuries or issues you might have over a cup of tea. I will also ask you about your experience with Pilates and other forms of exercise. We will then conduct a postural assessment. This involves taking pictures and noticing whether you are holding your body in an unusual or unproductive way. Many of us have one shoulder that is higher or one hip. It is essential to see what your current holding patterns are first before working to adjust them. You will then receive a one hour Pilates class aimed at postural alignment and improved mental health. Pilates, like Yoga, unites the mind and body in a way that eases tension and promotes health and wellbeing. Regular practice improves your breathing, posture and outlook on life. There are whole body benefits to stretching and strengthening. You will also relax your mind with a short guided meditation. After the class you will be offered water or juice to rehydrate, as well as some healthy snacks. Take a break from daily life in order to refocus and get clarity.

Christie

I am Theatre Historian by profession and taught in the university environment for over two decades. Then in 2016 I was diagnosed with breast cancer. I have been practicing yoga and Pilates for over 20 years but it was the Pilates that really helped me to regain strength, physical confidence and the full range of upper body movement after my surgery. Recently I decided to quit my job (which required me to sit at a desk for long hours) and have qualified as a Pilates instructor. In my classes I focus on core strength and postural alignment but you will have the chance to chat about any particular injuries or issues before we start (over a cup of tea). I will also provide you with a full postural assessment. Each session ends with a short guided meditation. Please come and join me to develop your positive posture and relaxed mind.

體驗地點

The class, tea, chats and postural assessment will all take place in my home where I have a large living room for Winter class and an even larger conservatory for Spring and Summer classes. There is parking for two cars outside the house or it is a short walk from the train station or the centre of town.
