You will design and draw a small, simple, image on paper, transfer it to a lino block and then using SHARP lino cutting tools cut into the lino leaving the raised section to be inked up, with water based ink, and printed onto cartridge paper. This is called a relief print. There is time to do a couple of trial prints, adjust the lino block if necessary and complete approx. 4 copies of the print. At the end of the workshop the tools, block, rollers etc need to be cleaned with water. You will take home your prints and lino block.
I have an Honours degree in visual arts, majoring in painting, drawing and printmaking. I also studied life sculpture in clay and wax. I love sharing my art knowledge with adults. I usually hold one on one drawing and painting sessions as it allows me to tailor the session to the individual's requirements, and am now wanting to share simple lino printing techniques with adults.
