This experience is to showcase Tokyo's growing independent coffee scene, show guests some really cool cafés you may not find on your own, and to let you drink some truly delicious coffee. Whether you take your coffee black or white, this experience can cater to you. Too often on holiday, tourists will settle for big café chains, giving their money to another mega corporation instead of the local community, and drinking something they can have in their home country. Finding independent cafes in Tokyo can be intimidating for visitors, and I hope to change that by showing you some great places to go! We will start the morning in Harajuku, Tokyo's alternative and high fashion capitol, at a café with plenty of black and white coffee to chose from alongside a delicious brunch. There are vegetarian options! Then we will move through the Omotesando neighbourhood, checking out Tokyo's fashion and food scene as we walk to our next location. Our next stop will be a distinctly Japanese cafe that specialises in premium roasts. They have plenty of beans to take home as a souvenir. Finally, we will end at another well-rounded café in Aoyama, and I will walk you back to Shibuya which is well connected to the rest of Tokyo. Along the way, I will teach you what I can about modern Tokyo, coffee, fashion, cafes, and more! Price includes brunch and one drink up to ￥1000 at each café.
I am a writer and aspiring barista who has been living in Japan for almost seven years now. I spend my weekends exploring the third wave coffee scene in Tokyo while I work on my writing, and love trying different coffees and finding new secret places in the city. I have also explored independent coffee makers and cafes in the UK, Australia, Hong Kong, South Korea, and Nepal - and hope to continue to explore many more around the world! I have lived in the UK, the USA, and Japan now, and love meeting people from around the globe. I want to teach more people about independent coffee shops, supporting local farmers, and overall, drinking better coffee! Someday I hope I can open my own café, but until then, I will keep visiting other ones and learning all I can. Message me for other weekend availability requests! Instagram - @tokyocoffeecowboy

During this experience, we will go to three different cafes in the Harajuku/Shibuya area. The first will be a large café with an expansive menu of different coffees, along with a wide selection of brunch options. The second will be hidden stand full of high quality black coffees with a minimalist Japanese design. The third will be a great local favourite with a well-rounded coffee menu, snacks, and a great vibe.
Because we will be walking to the different cafes, wear comfortable shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. Tokyo is very humid in the summer and cold in the winter. Bring an umbrella for rainy weather, and a bottle of water. If cafes do not have space, we will relocate to another nearby café.
