The Waterford Greenway is a car-free route for cyclists and pedestrians linking Waterford city and the harbour town of Dungarvan. My tour starts in Waterford city and covers approximately one quarter of the Greenway, taking about three hours to complete. The route is relatively flat and the cycle is suitable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness. The tour is designed to illuminate the story behind the landmarks and points of interest on the Greenway by introducing you to the peoples who’ve had an influence on the landscape and, by extension, on Ireland and its history. We may also catch a glimpse of the wildlife inhabiting the Greenway. Don’t worry, we can guarantee you there are no snakes. Solo travellers and groups are welcome and participants should be 15 years of age and above. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult. The group size will be small enough to ensure that you have an enjoyable and memorable experience. To make your stay in Waterford more enjoyable, I will be delighted to recommend other things to do during your stay. I also pride myself on knowing what is happening on the cultural scene locally and nationally, and would love to pass on this information to you.
With cyclists, both racing and touring, on both sides of my family, it was inevitable I’d be hooked as soon as I could manage to stay upright on a two wheeler. Over the years, I've embraced cycling in many different forms; racing, coaching, commuting and, more recently, cycling as a sociable form of exercise. Born and raised in Waterford city, I was encouraged from an early age to explore my surroundings and to learn about my home town and its place in Irish history. The teachers in my local school further helped to engender a curiosity about my locality and a pride in sharing that knowledge with others. After three decades in the corporate world, meeting people and building relationships, I decided to combine my love of cycling with my business experience to set up a bicycle tour company, to showcase all that Waterford has to offer.

On the cycle you will encounter the location of the first Viking settlement in Waterford, the world renowned Mount Congreve Ornamental Gardens and the Suir Valley Heritage railway. Depending on the ability of the participants and if time allows, we may venture off the Greenway for a short detour to explore further afield.
