The experience includes an artist-led tour of The Mechanical Riverfront Kingdom on Druid Hill, a musical performance in this magical space, a stove lighting (temperature permitting), and the screening of a short film by the artist on the Bateman 5000. This is a one-of-a-kind must see destination experience for curious culture explorers, music lovers, and appreciators of art. 7:00PM: -Upon arrival and a brief period to meander the garden, guests will convene in the back at the camper music performance stage. A stove or three will be burning if weather is cool enough. 7:15PM -The group will be welcomed with an introduction and a few songs to start the evening as they settle in with a BYOB beverage if they choose. 7:30PM -The artist will lead the group through the garden explaining the ideas behind the work and demonstrating the interactive elements of the kinetic sculptures. 8:15PM -The group will return to the stage for a Q&A session. 8:30PM -The artist will begin a musical performance, while guests are free to be seated or wander freely through the garden. 9:30PM -A short film will begin screening on The Bateman 5000. Casual socializing in the garden will wind up the evening as guests await transportation. 10:00PM End of event
I am an artist, musician, & filmmaker with many decades of experience. My 35 year old art environment “The Mechanical Riverfront Kingdom on Druid Hill“ is a landmark in Decatur, GA. My work has appeared in college textbooks, newspapers, magazines, and on national network television. I am an Artadia 2017 Atlanta awardee. I have taught Sculpture at Georgia Tech and The University of Tennessee. I hold a Masters in Fine Art from Georgia State University and a BA in Anthropology. My film “The Ballad of Druid Hill” won Best Short Music Documentary at the 2019 BareBones International Film Festival. It was nominated for Best Original Music at the 2019 Oregon Documentary Film Festival. As a musician, I have performed in hundreds of venues over 40 years from Ireland to Maine to Utah & released 2 CD's with my Americana band The BooHoo Ramblers.
