We will meet at the tide pools and I will begin by introducing myself, going over safety guidelines, and giving a brief background to the marine sanctuary. From this point, we will split up to explore the tide pools. If someone finds something interesting, we can all gather around and learn about it. I will do my best to find interesting things in places you wouldn’t think to look. We can explore for an hour and a half. I can take pictures of your group interacting with marine life or posing together and am happy to share them with you! Please note: this activity is dependent on tides, so the timing of these excursions may not seem convenient, but will be worth it!
I am a science educator pursuing a master’s degree in marine science, specifically studying invertebrates in the Santa Cruz area. I can identify many marine organisms through my education at school but also have a scientific communication platform on Instagram that helps me learn more organisms as well. I have worked with the marine sanctuary locally so I can talk about regulations and safety measures. I also just have a passion for showing people the beauty in tide pools that we need to protect by making healthy choices for our planet!
I will take candid pictures of your group exploring and am happy to share pictures of creatures I take as well!
There are several options for tide pools we can visit and I will do my best to meet your needs. Some of these areas are fairly flat, while others are rocky, so keep that in mind when booking. These sites are beautiful but we will need to be aware of the wildlife underfoot and slippery rocks! Santa Cruz has some of the most beautiful tide pools in the United States, with opportunities to see sea slugs, crabs, chiton, octopuses, and more!
最多10人參加，年齡須滿5歲。 Guests should be aware that rocks can be slippery. I am not liable for any injuries that may occur.
Because this is a natural habitat, I cannot guarantee that we see a certain type of animal, but I will try my best to find amazing things with you! Also, I cannot change the date or time of the experience, it is based on the time and intensity of the tides! Thank you for understanding :)
