The tour brings you to TreCeiri ('Giant's Town') - the 2000-year old best-preserved iron age hillfort in western Europe! Enroute with views of the coastline and Snowdonia I'll introduce you to the areas folklore and how ancient stories link the area to Europe and the wider world from pre-roman times to modern day. Pick up is at Caernarfon tourist information opposite the Castle. We'll route through the town to provide some local context you won't find in guidebooks, before heading west. We'll pass by chapels, a stately home and a beachside hillfort, before pulling up at the foot of TreCeiri. The walk to the top is less than a mile and will take about an hour. We'll enter through the 5-meter wide perimeter wall, and pass by the many roundhouse bases. At it's top, the 360° view is among the best in north Wales, looking back to Caernarfon guarding the Menai Straits, Snowdonia, Lleyn Peninsula, Anglesey, Cardigan Bay, and on a fine day even the Isle of Man and Ireland. If weather is inclement we can instead visit a once-abandoned quarrying village just below the hillfort, now a centre for the Welsh language. We'll head back to Caernarfon via PantDu Vinyard for tea or coffee, or perhaps a taste of something stronger! --- This 4-hour tour starts from £65 for one, and is £25pp thereafter for up to 4 people. Croeso! ('Welcome!') I'm an AirBnB superhost in Caernarfon, and I do these tours to get out in the fresh air and share my culture! I'm born and raised between sea and mountain in this special corner of Wales, speaking Cymraeg (Welsh) as my first language. We were taught the Mabinogi in school - Wales' mystic folklore tales. One branch is set in this land we'll visit to the west of Caernarfon where I grew up. As I child I would visit the ancient sites -stone cromlech's menhirs and circles, hillforts, and the rugged wild places of these shores and mountains. I work in design and my interests are in social betterment, community, sustainability. I believe the natural environment and original cultural and values of places like Wales will become recognised and of increasing value to societies. I'm keen to share some of this 'Real Wales'
*Let me know beforehand if you need to borrow childseats.

The weather is changeable, so pack a light raincoat, something warm, and if it's fine, a sun hat and sun protection too! We won't be venturing too far from civilisation though, so the main thing to bring is common sense and your curiosity!
