Join Spira in accessing higher states of awareness through mindfulness-based art workshops. Absolutely no experience is necessary. In fact, if you think you can’t draw but would love to create something beautiful that comes from your heart, these workshops are definitely for you. Mindfulness is sustained attention to the present moment and by practicing mindfulness, we can train our brain to stop worrying about the past or future. Each 2-hour workshop begins with introductions, instruction on how to using the materials, followed by a guided meditation and time to create your project. The topic and finished product varies but we generally use simple materials like colored pencils, pens, sharpies, and watercolor paint. Topics include: Self-body state watercolor: we will create a watercolor painting representing your energetic body state. You’ll get to tune in to your body with breathwork and guided meditation and paint your vision. Zen Doodle: we will learn the art of the zen doodling. It's easy, fun, and very meditative. You will definitely surprise yourself. Spiritual Mandala Making: we’ll create various mandalas using a process that includes an inner spiritual journey using guided meditations. Bilateral Drawing for healing: bilateral stimulation may help regulate body and mind thus allowing explicit memory to be reconnected with implicit memory.
Spira, MAT, RYT-500, Usui Reiki Master Teacher, leads classes in yoga, movement, meditation, and art as tools for healing, personal transformation, and spiritual practice. She has been teaching art in public schools for 17 years, practicing yoga and reiki for 20+ years and is downright nerdy about learning and teaching. She also loves dogs, cooking, singing, art making, traveling, science, and plant medicines.
I will provide ALL art supplies for these workshops.
Depending on the size of the group, we will either meet in my healing space in Cambridge, my home, or at Washington Street Art in Somerville.
