Your visit will include a short farm tour that includes a meet and greet with the goats - up close and personal. The goats' unique rumen, personality, as well as feeding and health needs will be reviewed. Next, you'll have a chance to try out goat milking and then move into the kitchen where we'll demonstrate the simple method of making fresh farm cheese.
Kathleen & Richard
We have been raising our backyard herd for milk and fiber as an entree for urban youth and residents to learn more about their food and regenerative practice for everyday use. We teach urban agriculture to adults and children throughout the year and are active in the food policy councils in Los Angeles and Long Beach. All are welcome in our space.
Goat milk and cheese will be on offer for those who want to taste. We always have filtered water and tea available.
Our unique urban farm offers a sanctuary in the city, a respite from LAs hectic pace and traffic. Our space is located in a century-old neighborhood called Richland Farms that still has horses walking down the streets, cows for neighbors, and the crow of roosters in the air.
Please wear closed toed shoes. Long pants recommended.
Our space has uneven ground so wear appropriate shoes. We have a wide variety of plants, insects, and animals. If you are allergic it would be wise to prepare ahead of time. We are a small micro-farm in the center of the city, our neighborhood is safe and easy to find.
