This activity gives you a special panoramic view of Reykjavik by visiting two viewpoints few know about. I will tell you about Reykjavik's interesting geothermal history and how houses and the pool are heated straight from under our feet. We start of from my local geothermal swimming pool, Laugardalslaug and head out to the first viewpoint upon old overgrown water tanks where you get a unique view from inside Reykjavik. Next we visit historical hot washing pools that were heated with local hot pools. We run through the local botanical garden and historical park before we head off to the second viewpoint, Laugarás, a geological monument from the Ice age. There you get a view over the Laugardalur Valley and its surroundings. We then head back and I'll show you our neighborhood Ice-cream store, Skúbb (Scoop) and tell you about the Icelanders "ísbíltúr" (Ice Cream Social Car ride tradition). The running distance is 4.5 miles (7km). There are two slopes on the way but nothing real hard. We can make stops as we go along or we can run thru at a leisurely pace you are comfortable with. We end the experience by visiting the swimming pool, Laugardalslaug, where I guide you thru local customs, introduce you to the Icelandic "hot-tub club" phenomenon and encourage you try out the refreshing cold bath treatment for sore muscles.
I'm a runner at heart and a trail runner enthusiastic. Since I started running in 2013 I've been exploring running paths in and around Reykjavik and discovering new places and interesting location I would never see unless on foot. I have a passion to go out for a run where ever I travel to explore and get sense of the local atmosphere. I would like to share with you some of my favorite trails and tell you about my city, my neighborhood and it's residents. I've lived in Laugardalur for almost a decade and know the area by heart, every nook and cranny and the history of this lovely neighborhood. I'll be happy to guide you around.

Admission to Laugardalslaug swimingpool
Laugardalur, my own neighborhood, is also known as Hot Spring Valley. It is home to the Laugardalslaug open-air geothermal baths, popular for swimming year-round. The area is a hub for outdoor activities offering sports centers, running trails, and art installations. On either side of the valley are little know viewpoints that offer spectacular views of Reykjavik, surrounding mountains and a ocean view.
Outfit for running based on weather conditions
