After meeting up at the Hachiko Statue, we will begin our 3-hour Shibuya food tour at the world famous Shibuya crossing amidst the dazzling neon lights and popular shops. Finding your way through one of the most populated cities in the world can seem overwhelming at first. Our guided tour will help you navigate Shibuya like a pro and allow you to experience all of the traditional foods that Japanese cuisine has to offer. From izakaya style dishes, sushi and a savory ramen, discover the city through a local perspective. My experience is designed for a small group so that you can experience a great culinary experience where local Japanese who are also particular about their food go to satisfy their cravings.
My goal is to help make your visit to Tokyo the most magical and authentic experience possible by allowing you to discover an array of regional specialities that you won’t find in your traditional guide book. With over 160,000 restaurants in Tokyo, narrowing down where to eat can feel overwhelming. Through Street Food Japan’s small and personal guided tours, you will get a taste for a variety of quality dishes and understand the rich, fascinating history behind them from a local perspective. Create an unforgettable experience as you gain insight into the nuances of Japanese cuisine, which play an integral part of the culture. Born and raised in Tokyo, Japan, Alan Lee created Street Food Japan tours to share his love for Japanese cuisine and culture with the rest of the world.
Grilled meat, Sushi and Ramen
World famous Hachiko dog statue where Japanese people have used it as a meeting spot at Shibuya station for over 5 decades. We will cross Shibuya Scramble Crossing and go to out first food location where we will enjoy morsels of grilled meat. Keep in mind I have designed this experience to avoid the typical tacky touristy joints you may see on typical tours. As a Shibuya-ku resident myself, this has been my neighborhood for years.
Wear comfortable shoes since this is a walking tour. Additionally, since there is always a crowd near the Hachiko statue since it is the most famous meeting spot in all of Japan, keep an eye for the Street Food Japan guide with the sign.
