We will meet in front of a local shop in the village of Soča, run by the Trenta cooperative. After a morning coffee and a conversation about the history of the village and the people, we will drive 5 mins far to the starting point. Our trail takes us to a mountain pasture, in a village where people lived 45 years ago. Water scarcity and hard living drove people to the valley. We still see beautiful meadows that silently testify to human dignity and the fight against raw nature. We will walk between the old houses and the walls of the collapsed stables. At the lookout point, we will rest and enjoy the views of the Soča Valley and the surrounding mountains. We will return to the valley along the old shepherd's path through the magical forest, we will be accompanied by bird singing, and we will probably see a black squirrel as well. The route is technically simple, suitable for all generations as well as for families with small children (from 9 years old) as well as for older guests. The walk will take about 2 to 3 hours, climbing about 400 meters high. We will finish our walk with lunch at a local restaurant, where we will try local dishes.
My name is Marko, I live in Bovec, at the foot of the Triglav National Park and on the banks of the beautiful emerald river Soca. As a 10-year-old boy, I experienced a mountain storm on a school trip and since then my life has been marked by mountains, climbing and nature. I am now a licensed sports climbing instructor, ski instructor, as well as a local tourist guide in the Soča Valley, member of a Mountain Rescue Service. My 30 years of experience in the mountains, teaching and guiding young climbers in the Alpine Sections, as well as 10 years of experience in tourism, allow me to sharpen my sense of people.
