During this workshop we will each create a unique Berlin-specific phototransfer to take away. This is a technique in which a printed photograph can be transferred onto a wide variety of mediums - in the workshop you will have the option of paper, wood, canvas, or a canvas bag. We will take photos at a nearby historical site (former border point between east and west) to create our artwork (although it is also possible to choose from one´s own archive of photos already taken of Berlin, or a range of motifs I have at my studio). Each participant will choose a photograph and a pictorial support on which to transfer it. This is a creative based workshop with a hint of local history.
I completed my Master in Fine Arts in 2014, having studied a wide range of techniques and experienced a variety of teaching styles at 4 different universities in New Zealand, Spain, Italy and Chile. Since graduating, I have exhibited frequently and internationally, and was recently awarded the Heise art prize. I specialise in painting and graphic technique and love to combine and mix mediums.
Coffee, tea, water
Mixture for transfers, brushes, acrylic paints, a printer ... everything we will need to make our photo transfers
We will meet directly at the former border point between east and west, where we will talk a bit about Berlin, the wall and the area. The site offers interesting views for a photo opportunity, which will feed into our creation later. However, if it is impossible to be outside (storm, heavy rain, etc.) we will meet and stay at my studio, where you can choose from my photo archive of Berlin, or your own. In this case I would message the group.
Umbrella and/or raincoat, just in case
- Please note: the purpose of this experience is to create our own, unique, beautiful piece, and I will be keeping some artist secrets to myself. - If being outside is REALLY impossible (heavy rain, storm, etc) I will message the group and we will meet directly at my studio.
