We will spend our morning climbing to the top of Mailbox Peak. This peak is famous for how steep it is, and also the amazing view you will get on a clear day of Mt. Rainier, and the lush Middle Fork Valley. The mailbox at the top of the peak usually has a fun, quirky, or unusual item that folks have left from their last ascent. The hike is about 9.5 miles round trip, and at roughly 850 feet elevation gain per mile, your legs and thighs will really feel this hike until you are standing at the top of the peak! The first 4 miles of the hike are through switchback relatively under the tree line, once we reach about 3860 feet, we start our final 960 foot hike up a rocky switchback that leads us to the summit. At the peak, we will relax, eat a replenishing meal, and hopefully take our fill of photos. Please allow for a total time of ~9 hours.
