Experience South Florida’s beaches in a unique way with this guided beach walk with a marine biologist! During this outing, you will learn about animals that live in South Florida’s coastal waters and then walk along the beach searching for sea life such as crabs, seashells, fish, and more! First, we will meet at one of the picnic tables at Boynton Beach Inlet Park where a professional marine biologist will give you an engaging overview of the local beach environment. This discussion will include information about the ecosystem we are viewing as well as visual aids showing marine life that can be spotted along the shoreline. After the introduction, we will walk across the street to begin our tour of the beach. We will meander along the shoreline searching for marine life among the rocks and seaweed. Your marine biologist guide will help you to identify animals spotted and provide interesting facts about whatever you find. You are encouraged to keep any uninhabited seashells that you find along our walk! Our beach walk will conclude at the large fishing pier where we will search for crabs hiding among the crevices of the pilings, view marine birds and fish that hang out in the area and check out fish caught by the locals. You are welcome to stay at the beach at the conclusion of the tour if you like or you can follow your guide back to the original meeting location.
I am the founder of Saltwater Studies, a local marine tour and education company that has been offering tours and educational experiences throughout South Florida for over eight years. My lifelong fascination with the ocean and its creatures led me to pursue both my undergraduate and graduate degree in marine biology as well as certifications in SCUBA and sailing. I now have nearly twenty years of experience in marine science, am a published author and love to dabble in underwater photography and videography. The ocean is my passion and I love introducing people to life beneath the waves in any way possible!
Boynton Beach Inlet Park is a local park that includes a variety of amenities and activities for all ages. There are two fishing piers, a marina, partially enclosed scenic overlook, covered pavilions, restrooms, a playground and outdoor showers. The park allows visitors access to both the calm waters of the Intracoastal Waterway (ICW) and the Atlantic Ocean. A sheltered beach along the ICW offers a perfect swim spot for families with small kids.
