Dogs are welcome! Your wilderness experience will be within the home of the ancient Gallina Indian culture. There are seven miles of the main canyon and an endless number of side canyons, box canyons, and slot canyons to explore. This is true wilderness. Due to 14 crossing of Rio Gallina, we will shuttle you to the cabin from the main ranch and back again after your hiking adventure. On your first day you will arrive at the main ranch house where you will leave your automobile and we will shuttle you to your wilderness cabin. Along the way we will pause to admire an ancient Gallina Culture petroglyph panel. We will then continue on to the cabin, where your hosts will give you an orientation with a topographic map and discuss hiking options, and also answer questions you may have. At night you have the option of sleeping inside or on the outside deck. Stargazing on a moonless night will reveal the Milky Way to your delight. On your second day you have an option of where to hike in the canyon. There is the little-explored Alameda Canyon, which can take all day to see, or you can visit the sites of old homestead era ruins among the main canyon. There are dozens of side canyons that you may wish to explore. On day three you may start early in the morning and climb the mesa trail to admire the canyon vistas. We will then shuttle you back to the main ranch.
