Learn to surfski with an ocean paddler
由 Tighkey 舉辦的體驗
You'll get to experience surfski—a rapidly growing new paddle sport. Surfski requires body control and balance, with a few yoga-like physical elements. You'll need to focus on all parts of your body. Don't worry if you're a first-time paddler. I have the right method for you to become fine tuned at paddling, which will also open up new possibilities for staying fit and maybe becoming more competitive. We'll paddle across the bay to other beaches. You'll be able to feel the sea breeze just like the ancient samurai and merchants sailing across the Bay of Kamakura. I'll share the legend of the Great Buddha and Goddess of Mercy, and how our forefathers were once connected with the ocean. Afterwards, we'll go to my beachfront house to enjoy a local lunch box known as the "Surfer Bento."

I've been a paddler for over 30 years and have traveled to many places for different paddle sports. Among all the paddling disciplines, surfski is something I love the most, as it is the ultimate compilation of various elements. I have served as a certified surf lifeguard and I'm also a former national surfski champ. I'm excited that I can now share the nature and history of Kamakura on a surfski.
My home beach is Zaimokuza in Kamakura. Kamakura is a historical tourist destination and a cradle of many modern ocean sports like surfing, board sailing, lifeguarding, and surfski. Kamakura is conveniently located southwest of Tokyo, accessible via a one-hour direct train ride from Central Tokyo.
My group had a good time with this experience and the friendly service but also see some room for improvement. We arrived at the meeting place on time but it wasn't clear we had to walk around the corner up a driveway into a cafe that wasn't immediately visible. Luckily we wandered a little and figured it out. Tighkey was very friendly and allowed us to store our belongings and gave a brief history lesson on the area and the evolution of surfskiing. His friend (I am sorry for not remembering her name!) conducted our tour. During our practice drills on the water, one of my friends became too uncomfortable and our guide graciously rallied us to return our friend to the beach before heading out again to resume our tour. That interruption understandably prevented us from stopping at the planned historic sites but I did not receive any information on any adjustments to plans, etc. Even without seeing those landmarks, the feeling and scenery of being mobile in the water was awesome. Upon returning to the meeting spot, our guide provided is with a much-needed electrolyte drink and collected our gear. We were not served the included Surfer Bento as described. Tighkey was busy on a business call so I messaged the provided cell phone number as well as his Airbnb account about the issue. Although it wasn't a big deal, it would have been helpful for Tighkey to be available to speak to us after to clear anything up, and as a general parting courtesy. As the person who booked this group Experience, it was uncomfortable to collect the full amount from everyone when not everything in the description was provided. Also, the waterproof phone bags noted in the description were not provided. I still have not received any response from my phone text messages or Airbnb messages. Surfskiing in Kamakura is a great activity as it is enjoyable for a wide range of age groups and is physically not so difficult. Tighkey was great with communication early on. So it is confusing to now have no response. I suggest greeting the customer(s) with a checklist as well as being present after the tour if he is not conducting the tour. With this aside, I would strongly recommend this Airbnb experience.
