Embark on a special eco-spiritual journey and hike Gunung Merta, a mountain with breathtaking views of the village of Sidemen and the lush island of Bali. To welcome and energize you, the village will host a reception with coffee, tea, and local Balinese snacks. Then it’s time for a rewarding hike to Pura Gunung Merta, the beautiful temple on top of the mountain. Located about 600 meters above the community, you’ll learn about Balinese culture, philosophy, and the lifestyle of the people in the village. While we’re there, you’ll get the opportunity to witness the temple offering, a traditional ritual conducted by your host, the temple priest.
Born and raised in Sidemen Village, I'm a farmer and I was honored to be chosen by my village community as the priest (Mangku) of our hilltop temple, Pura Gunung Merta. As Balinese, we believe in the Tri Hita Karana—the strong relationship between the creator, humans, and nature. I can’t wait to share this special experience with you.
We will provide an authentic Balinese lunch made of fresh local items and coconut and black rice pudding during tea time.
