We offer a 90 minute historical walking tour which will take you back to life and times in the 16th and 17th century. We will walk through the old Royal Naval College grounds on the footprint of the historical Greenwich Palace, birth place of Henry VIII, Mary I and Elizabeth I. You will learn about the important historical events that happened in the Greenwich Royal Court including the fate of Henry VIII's six wives. We continue into Greenwich park showing where jousting tournaments took place and onto the Queens house commissioned by James I for his wife Anne of Denmark. Our journey then moves up through the park to learn about the Royal Observatory history and meridian line.
Nigel and Richard have been giving historical talks for a number of years in the heart of Greenwich bringing alive the untold stories of the Kings and Queens who were born and ruled in Greenwich during Tudor and Stuart times. Local historians, both of us have experience as volunteers at Greenwich Maritime Museum talking to visitors about the rich history of the area. We now wish to share our passion with a wider audience.
Starting from outside the Cutty Sark ticket office we complete a circular tour around the beautiful Greenwich Park. We visit sites that give a historical context to the changing landscape of Greenwich from Roman times up until the monarchs moved from the area .
