First, I will introduce you to my world, my paintings, graphic novels and more. I will show you some of the materials I use (a mixture of traditional and less so, such as crushed autumn leaves, sweet wrappers, Sahara sand etc.) and talk about my creative process. You will then have a go yourself and play with a few different materials. Don't worry if you've never done an art class in your life, I will offer you advice and help you along the way. You will leave with a unique insight into an artist's world and work, a hands-on experience of what goes into making an artwork, and a creation of your own.
I'm a self-taught artist whose work is in the collections of the Museum of Spontaneous Art in Brussels and the Russian Cultural Centre of Belgium, among others. I also teach art to children and adults. I love to show people that they can express themselves, create their dreams without the need for years of professional training. I also enjoy giving people an opportunity to gain an insight into an artist's life and creative process.
We will explore a selection of materials, from traditional paints and pencils to chocolate wrappers, crushed autumn leaves,…
You will visit my cozy and informal atelier which is located in the University Quarter of Brussels, recently named "the second coolest European quarter" by the Guardian newspaper. It's off the beaten track and away from the tourist trails, with great public transport links, plenty of exciting restaurants and bars and is a great way to see a slice of authentic colourful Brussels life.
If there is a specific material you want to try, feel free to bring it along
The atelier is located on the third floor without an elevator. I also have a cat who will certainly come out to greet you so if you have cat allergies, this is something to bare in mind.
