Available Dec-March. Gray Whales provide kayakers with once-in-a-lifetime opportunities when leaving the waters of the Arctic & heading south to the lagoons of Mexico. We'll push every kayak safely through any waves before paddling out of the reserve. The tour heads due west from the shore & stops about 2 miles out, putting you alongside the path of the whale migration. I'll offer interesting facts & history about the surrounding area & marine life along the voyage. Seeing these majestic mammals is truly awe-inspiring. I'll be there to make sure you have the most intimate & amazing experience. Part of that is a strict adherence to the Marine Mammal Protection Act & the Ocean Etiquette Guidelines established by National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). In accordance with the laws & guidelines, we remain at least 100 yards away from whales & 50 yards away from dolphins. We avoid following behind or directly approaching in front of these animals. However these gentle giants have been known to approach boats, kayaks, etc. By following these guidelines, we ensure that we are safe, do not disturb these amazing creatures of the sea & have a wondrous experience.
I am a San Diego native, yogi & marine science nerd. I have led countless snorkeling & diving adventures all around San Diego. If I'm not in the ocean surfing, diving or snorkeling I'm near it weather it be exploring hidden sea caves at negative low tides, seeking tide pools, lobster hoop netting or educating myself all about it. I love sharing unique experiences with those who have similar passions. Not many people know of the amazing marine life San Diego offers, that's why I'm here!
