First, one of us will be eager to meet and greet you, in front of our charming Sonoma Valley Visitor Bureau...the first of many historic locations we will discuss. Here we will learn one another's names, find out your connection to history and proceed. Next, we will be on our way as a group to uncover the landmarks that are in plain sight that most don't even realize are significant to events that have shaped not only Sonoma, but California history. We will discuss important characters, including General Vallejo, General Joseph Hooker, and Indian Chief Solano. You will learn about the various Native American Indian tribes and why they named our town "Sonoma." We will go over the good, the bad and the ugly...all that Sonoma was in the old days with the visual support of museums, statues, landmarks and landscapes. You will come away with a strong sense of what our town looked like back in the 1800s and how one person's vision propelled it into the wine country town it is today. Finally, we will wrap up our tour leveraging our culinary ties to the town from the 6 years we have run our food and wine tours. Without waiting in line, you get to cash in on your "Sweet Scoop" of ice cream from Sonoma's local ice cream shop via the Henchman family. Even if your vegan, we got you covered, as they make their product with and without dairy:-)That's the Scoop!
Greetings, my name is Renee! Me, my two adult kids (Drew and Maddy) and dear friend Arlene have been leading history, wine and culinary tours around the plaza for the last six years. We all live locally to the area for 24-45 years, some of us walking distance. We are most impassioned by the rich stories that each landmark around the downtown area holds. Not only have we been actively guiding as ambassadors of Sonoma each week, we have researched extensively to uncover stories most have never heard. Due to our relationships with so many proprietors and the docents of the CA State Park, we are perfectly positioned to entertain you through history and ice cream! We list Napa, Yountville, St Helena & Sausalito experiences on Abnb too! You can find them by clicking on my profile photo.
