We will go over the culinary background of dumpling in different regions in China. Then we will start to prepare the dough for dumpling wrapper, after that moving onto learning how to make a delicious, juicy and tender filling by adding variety of Chinese spice and seasoning. Next we will be rolling dumpling wrapper from scratch by using a roller pin, many of my guests found this is the most meditating moment of the whole experience! Then I will show you different ways of wrapping, then we will cook what we make and dip them into delicious Sichuan sauce, a family recipe passed on from my grandmother!
I was born and raised in Sichuan China(AKA Szechuan in US), the birthplace of classic Chinese gourmet food. I have been living in NYC for over 10 years working as a designer. As great as the Chinese food is here in NYC, nothing can compare to my grandma's dumplings dipped in spicy Sichuan pepper oil mixed with garlic. This nostalgia for my home cooking caused me to enroll in the famous New East Cuisine Culinary School in Chengdu Sichuan. After completing my studies I set out on a mission to bring the joy of Sichuan cooking to US, I hope you join me on this journey.
