Top reasons to join this ride: 1) It is environmentally friendly. 2) The curated route has been selected to pass many important sites of Seattle. The route is relatively flat. 3) We go when you want to go. There’s no need to wait for a hop on, hop off bus. 4) The tour gives a great introduction to Seattle neighborhoods. 5) It is satisfying and feels healthy. 6) The tour will provide you with opportunities to try local bakeries, restaurants, and ice cream shops. 7) You will know more about Seattle’s history and culture. 8) You will go home with great photos and memories. We will cycle through many different neighborhoods in Seattle with the objective to see outdoor artwork which illuminate some of the city’s history and culture. We will meet at the International Fountain at Seattle Center. From there we will cycle along the waterfront, passing Olympic Sculpture Park, en route to the SODO neighborhood. Afterwards we will spend some time in the International District. We will stop for lunch at or near Jackson Street. Next, we will head past Seattle University into Capitol Hill. We will take a break there and visit the neighborhood. We will cruise north on Broadway and then uphill to Volunteer Park and the surrounding environment. Our next stop will take us into Fremont. We will see some famous sites before returning to Seattle Center.
I have been cycling in Seattle and the Pacific Northwest to get around and for recreation. I volunteer with Cascade Bicycle Club and I participate regularly in event rides. I have twice participated in the ride from Seattle to Vancouver, British Columbia. I have completed the one day classic ride around Mount Rainier. I know the neighborhoods of Seattle well and I look forward to showing guests the art, monuments, and natural spaces in Seattle. I love to travel and sample the world’s cuisines. I am a former Peace Corps volunteer in Kyrgyzstan and Liberia. I’ve also spent years teaching in Turkey. In my work life, I take students on educational trips and lead outdoor adventures. I also substitute teach.

The route distance is approximately 20 miles. I have carefully selected a route that is as flat as possible. There is less than 700 feet of climbing. We will utilize a bike route whenever possible. We will stop for snacks as well as increase the mileage. You will need to provide a bicycle and helmet
