We are very excited to have you visit us! You will have a unique peek into the only small-batch chocolate kitchen in the state of Michigan. You will learn about how we started our chocolate making business, cover all the steps of chocolate making from the tree to fermentation to tempering, molding and wrapping chocolate. You will taste plenty of chocolate on the way. This class was formerly known as Chocolate 101.
My name is Barbara Wilson, and I am the founder of Mindo Chocolate Makers. In 2004 I left my job at the University of Michigan as a public health educator and in 2009 we started two small chocolate-making businesses. The first one is in Mindo, Ecuador where we purchase and export cocoa beans. We are giving lots of tours in both Mindo, Ecuador and in Dexter, Michigan. We love showing our visitors how we make chocolate and telling our story.
