Upon arrival to our farm which is located in Earleville, Maryland, we greet our visitors with an overview of the itinerary, and how to properly and respectfully engage with the alpacas. We then lead our visitors into the fields where they will have the opportunity to love on our alpacas while they learn all about them (where they come from, what we do with them, how we care for them, etc.). After interacting with our alpacas in the fields, we head into our on-site fiber mill where they will learn how raw fiber is transformed into beautiful yarns, rovings, batts, and rug yarns. Our tour concludes in our on-site gift shop where our visitors can see and purchase a wide variety of U.S. made finished goods made with each of the products created in our fiber mill.
I am the owner of Painted Sky Alpaca Farm and Fiber Mill located on the scenic Eastern Shore of Maryland. My husband and I have always had a love of animals, and began building our farm in 2002 first with our 2 horses whom we’ve owned for 31 years, with the intent of expanding our herd to include alpacas. Our farm currently includes 34 alpacas, with 7 years of experience caring for, showing, and breeding our sweet alpacas. We also have a handful of friendly barn cats and dogs running around the property. I know each alpaca intimately, and can answer any question our visitors may have. Additionally, we’ve added a fiber mill to process the fibers from our own alpacas, as well as from other fiber farms around the country.
Our tour takes place on our 20-acre farm located in Earleville, Maryland which is located on the beautiful Eastern Shore of Maryland. We will meet in our parking lot, located right next to our barn. We then walk into the fields (about 50 yards) to meet and greet the alpacas. Next we'll head into the fiber mill which is located right next door to the barn. Our tour concludes in the gift shop which is attached to the parking lot.
