You will explore over 300 years of New Orleans history of the women who shaped New Orleans. This 2-hour walking tour takes you along the streets of the French Quarter as you will learn about the incredible women who lived under various political and social rules. You will learn not just about the women, but the times that they lived in and the conditions that made them so successful. Louisiana was a French, Spanish, and finally, American city, these various countries had different effects on the women of New Orleans. You will learn about many different women, from a French Baroness to a Princess of Monaco, from nuns and saints to madames and prostitutes, the enslaved to the free. All of the various women made their mark on the history of not just New Orleans but on us even today. During this tour, some famous and infamous women will be showcased, from Delphine Lalaurie and Marie Laveau and voodoo to Norma Wallace, our "Last Madame". Dive deeper into how our women became some of the most important figures in the history of New Orleans and beyond.

I am a Louisiana State Museum trained guide with many years of experience both leading and writing unique and niche tours. Your tour will take you around to several important sites of the French Quarter. Jackson Square, the Ursaline Convent, the Lalaurie Mansion, as well as some of the most beatiful homes and businesses in the "Old Square". We do visit Bourbon Street to learn about the incredible burlesque history as well as other culturally significant buildings.

This is a 2-hour leisurely walking tour with a couple of places to sit down. We are in the French Quarter so bathroom/refreshment breaks are also available.
