There you will visit the final resting places of some famous and infamous residents. You will visit the tombs of former governors, musicians, a bonafide pirate, and a future Saint. As you leave the historic St Louis #2 cemetery, you will learn about the incredible history of "Storyville" and legal prostitution as you make your way to the Grande Dame herself, the St Louis #1. There you will visit Marie Leveau, the final resting place of Nicholas Cage, and the beautiful society tombs of the Italians and veterans of the Battle of New Orleans. I am a licensed tour guide with a degree in history as well as having extensive training through various museums in 4 different systems. I currently am a part of the Louisiana State museum where I'm an active volunteer. My roots in the city go back decades, with members of my family living here since the 1700s. I am a local expert in Colonial New Orleans history but with extensive knowledge of the incredible history and culture of New Orleans including contemporary times. I am also an honorably discharged USAF Gulf War veteran as well as being a "horse crazy" person. It is my knowledge and close connections with the cultural makers here in New Orleans is what sets me apart from the average tour guide.
Due to the uptick in vandalism, St Louis #1 cemetery only allows visitors inside the gates with a licensed tour guide. You will not be in a huge crowd of over 20 people trying to navigate through the maze of tombs. This will be a private tour which will give you the best possible experience possible. St Louis #2 is a cemetery located just behind her more famous sister the #1. I am a local expert on the historic #2 cemetery.
Comfortable shoes, water is also highly recommended
