1. Introduction to baking. This will be a full on bread making experience and you will take all your beautiful bread home to enjoy. I will touch on my background and passion for baking. We will make three types of loaf. We will talk about different flours and baking styles and traditions. This is a full on, hands on course and I hope it will be worth every penny in the start of your baking journey. 2. We will weigh up the flour, yeast and water for the loaves and let them autolyse / prove. 3. While the main bread is proving we will make some pitta breads and pizza dough for lunch. 4. We will weigh out and fold the bread for a second prove. 5. A little coffee / tea / cake break 6. We will fold the dough into tins for a third prove. 7. We will bake the pitta bread and loaves. 9. We will wrap up the loaves to take home. I will answer any questions. I will give everyone recipe cards to take home. 10. This will be a very hands on experience. I will make sure that everyone makes everything from start to finish. I have had amazing feedback from my experiences and repeat custom.
I host cooking demonstrations and cookery school at a wood burning stove and range cooker showroom in Curry Rivel. I teach artisan baking, pastry and pasta making, pizza baking or vegetarian food. I can tailor make cookery courses to suit each individual client’s needs. I have cooked for over 25 years around the world. I came back home to Somerset and worked as a private chef while setting up the kitchen at The Firehouse Somerset with my husband’s family. I trained as a baker’s apprentice. I learned how to make beautiful artisan bread and patisserie. I was an intrinsic part of setting up a pizza oven at The Firehouse Somerset. I worked as a chef for 2 years during the conception of this award winning pub and have now joined forces with Sandpits Heating Centre, owned by the same family, and opposite the pub, to host cooking experiences.

We will be in an open kitchen in the showroom at Sandpits Heating Centre. Surrounded by working Rayburns, Agas and Esse cookers which we will bake on. Sandpits Heating Centre is one of a kind. It is a family-run business that is more than 50 years old. The family also own Living Pretty tea shop in the Old Bakery next door and The Firehouse Somerset Pub opposite. The guests will pop a pizza in the pizza oven at The Firehouse. A one off experience

This course can be tailored to novice, intermediate or skilled bakers / chefs / cooks. It is a fun experience. Using locally sourced ingredients. You do not have to be an amazing cook. Just come and get stuck in, talk food, taste food and make good.
