We will begin our adventure by meeting in the parking lot of this tranquil 120 acre nature preserve, which is truly a hidden gem in the southwest part Atlanta! We will get acquainted with a little pre-hike meet and greet, then take the short stroll to visit the historic stone-and-mortar spring house. Here I’ll tell you a bit about the history of this preserve and the civil war battle that took place here. After that, we will take off on our easy hike through this peaceful preserve. Our first stop will be a gorgeous waterfall that cascades from under a busy road but is completely hidden from sight. The sound of the babbling brook combined with the sight of the English ivy draping the large rocks is pure bliss. From there we will make our way to the ridge where Civil War earthworks are faintly visible on the rolling forest floor, passing by several majestic old trees that are sure to inspire a photo or two. Then we will have a rest and short guided mediation at the granite boulder field reflecting on the many blessings that surround us. Next we will make our way down to the creek and through the rolling forest to outdoor auditorium where we will enjoy a simple standing yoga sequence I call Sun Moon Flows. This easy and effective series will help to stretch out the whole body, front to back and side to side, which will leave us feeling balanced and refreshed.
I began to practice yoga in 2007 and the dramatic benefits I experienced led me to become a certified instructor in 2012 so I could share these gifts with others. Since then I’ve continued to develop my knowledge and experience in this ancient art by attending a plethora of classes and workshops. I’ve had the pleasure to share my style of yoga, Sun Moon Flows, in studio classes and workshops across the country. As an avid hiker and lover of the outdoors, being CPR and wilderness first aid certified helps me feel at peace and ease while out leading events.
I will have plenty of bottled water to keep us hydrated
There are several amazing photos opportunities throughout the preserve, and I’m a passionate amateur photographer! I’ll be…
We will first visit a moss-covered stone spring house, then pass by the remains of a pump house at the base of the gorgeous three-tier cascading waterfall. Then we take the easy hike to the ridge where Civil War-era trenches are noticeable and then stop by the granite boulders for a brief guided meditation. After that we will make our way down to the creek and through a rolling forest to the peaceful outdoor auditorium for the yoga finale.
Be prepared to have a fun & relaxing afternoon. Make sure to wear comfortable shoes, sun protection and layered clothing in accordance with the weather.
