We will be in the artist's home and gallery. We will first watch a short documentary about artist Hari Prasad Sharma's background and life of art. Then we will browse through the original paintings in his gallery. Many of these paintings depict historical turning points in Nepali history, ranging from 2000 years ago to present day Nepal. Other paintings depict Nepali culture and lifestyle of people in the years before modernization. If you like, we can also view the entire collection of paintings digitally using a projector. We will also show you a few short clips of immersive paintings that have been enhanced by adding contextual sound and music. You will also get to meet the artist himself and ask questions. While I will lead all these activities, you can feel free to orient your private tour to topics that you want to discuss or explore. At the end of the tour, we will provide you with a free poster of one of the paintings (worth USD 10) of your choice as a gift to take home.
As the grandson of award-winning senior artist Hari Prasad Sharma, I grew up learning about Nepal's history and unique cultural traditions through my grandfather's paintings. As an art enthusiast, I pursued some art training before leaving Nepal to study in the USA and UK. I am passionate about sharing my grandfather's art with individuals, school groups, and foreign dignitaries, and our family has hosted many formal art exhibitions over the years with thousands of visitors. We are now for the first time opening up the private gallery in our home to visits from the public.
We can provide tea, coffee, water during the private tour.
I will welcome you to my family's home in the historic neighborhood of Chabahil. We will spend our time in the art gallery and studio of artist Hari Prasad Sharma.
