You will learn how to make from scratch Argentinian chipá and alfajores, both gluten free! 1. "Chipá" (pronounced "cheep-a") is a type of small, baked, cheese-flavored rolls, a popular snack and breakfast food in Paraguay and the Northeast of Argentina. 2. Alfajores are one of the most popular Argentinian treats. You have many recipes, but basically they are two sort of cookies filled with dulce de leche (kind of a more reduced caramel sauce, but much much better:) ) *We will only work with gluten free ingredients but I will give you non gluten-free recipes too. During the class we can enjoy the snacks with Argentinian mate, and we can explain how to prepare this one too in case you are interested, or you can take all your creations home. The class has a duration of 2 to 2:30 hours.
Hi! My name is Maria. I am an interior designer from the northeast of Argentina. I am the founder of a workshop house (Casa Telar), where I and other professors teach various workshops. I discovered I am gluten intolerant 7 years ago and this is what led me to develop my own gluten free recipes to enjoy our traditional afternoon "mates" like the chipas and alfajores you are going to learn in this workshop. My desire is to share my knowledge, and encourage people to make their own GF delicatessen, as I have been doing it for a couple year now.
We will provide all ingredients to prepare chipas and alfajores!
We will provide angentinian mate, to enjoy with your creations. We also offer tea.
The event will take place in my apartment, right in downtown DC. We will meet outside the building.
