Since food is an important part of our daily life and every culture has its own origin, recipes and way of preparing it, I am going to start the class with the introduction about momo and how it came into existence in our culture. Following that I will take you to the local market to show you how to pick the ingredient and where to get Organic, local products here in Leh. Buying and Choosing the right ingredient is the biggest part of cooking. After buying all the necessary ingredients, we will start the cooking class, where I will give you all the necessary equipments and instruction. We will begin by making the dough for the Momo, followed by chopping the right amount of vegetable with proper propotion, and then I will show you how to mix the vegetables and spices (according to your preference). Then comes the most interesting part of our cooking class, making momo, I will be teaching you, all shapes of momo, their names and most importantly all the different ways to make the shape of a momo. We will steam the momo, we can also Fry, bake and boil. While the momos getting ready I will also show you the recipe and the way to make special soup that goes with the momo. At the end, we will all sit down and you will be able to enjoy the momos made by yourself while having a discussion on cooking (if you like).
I teach in a secondary school and my passion is cooking. Cooking has always been a big part of my family. One of the things that has been passed from my generation is cooking, especially momo (dumplings). We live in Ladakh and Since the time from my grandmother momo making has been a family thing and unlike momos in restaurants, the one we make is homemade with organic ingredients and healthy recipe passed on from generations. Since every place has its culture and tradition, likewise food is also a part of the culture and I am very much happy to share this with the people who are interested as a way of tribute to my grandmother.

To buy all the necessary ingredients and that too Organic, I will be taking you to Local markets to buy local produce organic vegetables and how to choose the proper vegetables for the best taste. The cooking class will take place at Tendrel Experience Centre with all the necessary equipments for momo making and a comfortable hall for preparing and learning, making momo.
