We’ll be walking and exploring “Kampung Baru” (translated to English as New Village) and visiting several stalls and street vendors along the way. The tour will take you to 5 different spots, each displaying its own unique dish or snacks. You’ll be able to sample savoury food as such “Nasi Kerabu” (blue rice with mixed herbs), “Rendang” (slow cooked meat with spices, and no, it’s not crispy) as well as various local sweet snacks. In addition, we will also be visiting the farmer’s market nearby where you’ll get to sample some of the locals herbs and fruits. It will be a 3-hour gastronomical journey so I hope you do come to the tour hungry!
Hi! I am Fadly. I have been working in the local tourism industry for over 10 years and at a local restaurant as an assistance chef. I have a diploma in Food Service Management and I have a degree in Culinary Arts. Sums up, food and travelling is my passion. Malaysia is made up of multiple ethnicity groups with each contributing its own unique taste, texture, history and origin to make up a highly diverse Malaysian cuisine. It's true, Malaysia is a melting pot of rich culture and food diversity with each has its own specialties. There might be a lot of food tours out there, but not many which focuses on Malay delicacies as it may be viewed as complex. Let me be your guide. Make your Malaysian experience a wholesome one.

Last but not least, we'll be dining at surviving Malay village, Kampung Baru in the city centre where is remains essentially a country village, the symbolic heart of Kuala Lumpur’s Malay identity and large tract undeveloped area. However, Kampung Baru is targeted for a historic redevelopment, part of larger plans to upgrade to new business centre. This place is a gem for best Malay dishes and this is where the true locals go to eat.
Please wear comfortable shoes for walking. Please arrange your own transportation to meet at the arranged meet-up point because we will be walking to Kampung Baru. Let me know if you have any food allergy after booking., so I could assist you in any way making this tour a memorable one for you.
