We will start our tour discovery with the Bairro Alto area, more than 500 years old, quiet by day and lively by night. We will then visit the Chiado district, known as the “capital of Lisbon”. Then we will reach Largo do Carmo, the stage of the main revolution in Portugal. Here we will find the ruin of the Convento do Carmo, one of the few examples of gothic architecture in the city, and the magnificent Elevador de Santa Justa. The next stop will be in Baixa Pombalina built after the terrible earthquake of 1755. In Baixa Pombalina we will do a short coffee break. We will then take the famous “amarelinho”, the yellow tram that will lead us to the multiethnic district of Mouraria, where the urban popular song Fado was born. The Tram will take us to the viewpoint Portas Do Sol, where we will have a breath-taking view of Alfama, the most genuine and quaint area of the town, with its labyrinth of roads filled with white houses reflecting the light from the river Tagus. Now it’s time to “get lost” in one of the oldest and most magical districts of Lisbon! Our tour ends in Baixa, where you can choose to either prolong your trip or use public transport to reach your final destination.
