We'll leave Galway city circa 10 AM and travel about 41 km to the Galway / Mayo Border and visit the the site of the first Epic Battle of Moytura between the Fir Bolg and the Tuatha de Dannan. The associated monuments of the ancient Ballymagibbon Megalithic cairn (circa 3000bce), the Druidic Stone Circles, the Lia Lugha (Stone of Lu), the Plain of the Hurlers and a monument that is known as the Gods of the Neale. Following this we will travel to the historically rich and picturesque Cong village for lunch. Afterwards we travel by boat on the ancient highway of Lough Corrib with is panoramic views of Connemara, to Inchagoill: 'the Island of the devout foreigner' where stands many monuments including that of two ancient churches 'Teampull Phadraig' or St. Patrick's Church dating to the 6th or 7th century and The Temple of the Saints, a charming Hiberno Romanesque church. When we return we travel through the heart of the Connemara Landscape and 'Joyce Country' to Lough na Fooey. At the sites you can complete research for artworks in your medium of choice such as photography, drawing or watercolor. Easels and materials can be provided or you may bring you own. At the studio we may have an opportunity to create some Fine Art Prints using prepared print templates in mediums including; mono-print and silkscreen. I am an established Artist and Master Print-maker with over 20 years experience in commercial and fine art printmaking. I hold a masters degree in Fine Art from NCAD and received the award for Best Print at the 'Impressions' printmaking biennial at the Galway International Arts Festival 2017. I have for many years researched the archeological sites of the country and offer visitors a unique opportunity to share this heritage, to travel back in time and experience the history and lore of these wonderful sites in their natural environments. We have an established base in Connemara at Lough na Fooey in Joyce Country and offer flexible day-trip discovery tours of the Monumental Landscape and Heritage sites which we can document through your medium of choice and also have an opportunity to create some unique Fine Art Prints at the studio.

The Plain of Moytura; Myth and Monuments; Cairns, Stone Circles, Standing Stones and Gods. By boat to Inchnagoill island an ancient site of devotion on Lough Corrib. The historical village of Cong to enjoy and lunch. Also 'Joyce Country' the Connemara Gaeltacht (Irish speaking) and the Lough na Fooey valley which is truly inspirational. At these locations we can engage in photography, drawing, watercolor or any other medium of your choice.
This is an outdoor activity that engages archeological monuments in the natural environment, weather is not always fine and there are short walks through easily accessible fields. We can provide transportation if required and provide art materials if wish. Contact host for one person booking.
