Our meeting point is at La Pared beach where you can park vehicles at no price on the street. Then we head to the Sandy Hills path where we talk about Luquillo history and the Northeast Ecological Corridor. Once we arrived at the mouth of the Sabana river, we prepare ourselves for the trip with a brief safety talk, the use of the equipment and what we are going to encounter in our journey. We start our trip paddling upriver while you learn about the different mangroves of Puerto Rico and entering the white mangrove cathedral, also you will find the old structure of the sugar cane era bridge. After that, we head to San Miguel beach to know why this area is very important for the reserve and the leatherback turtle. Then we continue our trip through the estuary channels enjoying the biodiversity that surround us. After this immersion with the reserve, we head back to the mouth of the river area to talk about all the amazing things that we found and other activities that you can enjoy at The Northeast Ecological Corridor.
The duration of the trip it's about 2 hours.

Luquillo is a small and beautiful town in the northeast part of the island where, since I was a kid, I have the privilege to call home. For many years I've been enjoying the refreshing waters of their beaches and rivers and the amazing natural areas. That love for nature and conservation motivate me to join The Coalition for the Northeast Ecological Corridor form by local communities and organizations for the protection of The Northeast Ecological Corridor, a truly astonishing nature reserve with 3057 acres of protected land with 866 species of fauna and flora and 57 are rare or endangered. With an interpretive guide certification with The National Association for Interpretation (NAI) and Instructor certification with The American Canoe Association (ACA), it will be my pleasure to take you in this nature connection.

Our experience take place at the Northeast Ecological Corridor, an amazing nature reserve establish in April 13, 2013. A wonderful place with a great diversity and ecosistems in just 3057 acres of land. Also, the town of Luquillo is just minutes away from the International Airport, Vieques and Culebra ferries and San Juan area. This is a town that invite you to lay back and relax at the beach.

Ramon was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable, passionate and interesting storyteller. It is obvious that he loves Puerto Rico. His mission is to educate and protect the conservation area all while making sure his guests are safe and fully enjoying themselves. I recommend this tour for the beautiful, tranquil kayaking as well as the interesting history lesson of PR woven into the outdoor experience.
