You feel like a hobbit exploring Mordor... this feeling comes over you quickly when we walk through pine and birch forests and marvel at the many different lava flows. We descend into the caves of Etna and hike to the side slopes and craters. A possible sequence could look like this, but always depends on factors such as the group and the weather: We start the hike in a large pine forest to reach a lava cave, then we cross a lava stream. In the second part we hike up a slope to get a wonderful view over Valle del Bove and East Sicily. We will experience the size of Etna and what an important part it is of Sicily. This tour lasts about 7 hours and is suitable for people who like hiking, but also for families and children who are interested in this experience. If you have special wishes, travel alone or the number of people interested is more than six, please contact me before booking to discuss further details.
I am an absolute outdoor enthusiast and enjoy spending my free time outside. Since December 2018 I am also a certified Escursionistic and Enviromental Guide of the AIGAE (Italian Association that accompanies people in nature). I am Sicilian and live at the foot of the volcano. For many years I have been exploring the different corners and slopes of Mount Etna and therefore know many paths and beautiful places off the standard roads. Since seven years I show the visitors the beauty of Etna and a lot of people are very satisfied with my tours. I am looking forward to many inquiries.
We will visit some places on the largest volcano in Europe, the beautiful Mount Etna on the east side of Sicily. Craters, lava caves, lava fields, old pine forests and snow areas (in winter) are some of the places and environments we will visit during the excursion.
During the tour we will hike at over 1500m, so it is necessary to inform me about physical problems before and during the tour. I will try to adapt the day to your needs. Thank you very much!
