During this two and half hours experience you will discover vegetarian/vegan/pescatarian food in Gwangjang Market, one of the oldest wholesale markets still remaining in Seoul. The market is well known for its street food by locals, but is still undiscovered by tourists. From the market we will carry on to Ikseondong, a hidden area with modern hanok village mainly known by the young generations. Here we will enjoy true local food, the way it has been made for decades. We will finish in Korean medical herbal tea house, a non touristic area filled with authentic shops and restaurants. At each location we will make a brief stop, including a sampling of a local dish and the history of that dish. During the experience, you will have the opportunity to try around five dishes and two drinks (vegetarian/vegan/ pescatarian food). If you have any other dietary restrictions, please contact us in advance!
My curiosity for food started when moved out of my parents home, aged 19 and was forced to prepare and cook and test out recipes for the first time in my life. I learnt a host of Korean recipes during this time, before embarking on a journey in creating my own travel company. With this business, I met many foreigners and chefs who both inspired and advised me on how to prepare foreign food. With this in mind, I have since taken cooking classes and endlessly watched YouTube tutorials, cooking shows and competitions. I currently work on introducing Korean food and food culture to foreigners by hosting supper clubs and giving food tours. I enjoy tasting different food from restaurants and markets, trying to discover their ingredients and ways of cooking.
