Witness the majestic elephants of Kenya with a Samburu warrior as your travel guide. Your guide personally knows the caretakers at the elephant center, who will take us to meet the orphaned calves and watch the elephants at feeding time and while they play at the watering hole. Our experienced guide will tell us Samburu elephant lore and explain why the tribe is so deeply connected to the elephants they share their land with. We’ll meet at and depart from Sabache camp, located on a private wildlife reserve owned by the indigenous Samburu tribe.

We'll stay at Sabache camp in the Namunyak Wildlife Conservancy, a two hour car ride from the elephant sanctuary. The camp is located 5 hours from Nairobi by car and 1 hour by plane.
I am a wildlife biologist and professor who has lived and worked with the local Samburu tribe for over 18 years. The guides are experienced professionals who have led hundreds of participants on adventures, including children with parents, and who personally know the caretakers at the elephant center. They have been trained in wildlife care and conservation with some of the world's best professionals and are sponsored by Prince William's Tusk Trust. You will be observing the elephants at a respectful distance with the guidance of their caretakers and guards. Guest to Guide ratio: 4-1.

Your safety is important. Heed the advice of your guide to ensure your safety--and that of the calves. While the road to our base camp is newly tarmacked, safari bush roads can be rugged at times.
