We'll prep and sail my 40' Hunter sailboat out of Marina Del Rey and up the coast toward Santa Monica Pier. We'll pass the famous Muscle Beach, the Santa Monica Mountains rising from the Pacific in front, and Catalina Island hovering on the horizon behind you. The trip will last around 2 1/2 hours. I'll provide drinks: ice cold Coronas, soda and water. You can help sail the boat, steer, pull in sheets or just sit back in one of the three comfortable sailing lounge chairs available and enjoy the ride. If you've never sailed or are a seasoned mariner who just wants to escape hectic LA for peace and quiet, this experience is for you. There is nothing like watching the sunset from the cockpit of a boat -- you are literally surrounded by light, swimming in oranges and reds. A once in a lifetime experience.
I've been sailing since I was a kid with my dad. I taught sailing as a counselor at a camp in Maine. I spent six months on a King Crab fishing boat in the Bering Sea. Since then, I've raced my dad's 27' trimaran on Penobscot Bay in Maine. I've owned this sailboat for over two years. I sailed it down from San Francisco during active March weather and often sail it to Catalina and Santa Cruz Island. Finally, I recently got my Coast Guard OUPV Captain's license.

We'll cruise along Venice Beach, the Venice Pier, the Santa Monica Pier, the Annenberg Community Beach House, and turn around at the Getty Villa. Malibu in the distance with the Santa Monica Mountains rising up behind. To the south the Palos Verdes Peninsula rises and farther south Catalina Island.
