We’ll meet at the historic and beautiful Louis Armstrong Park in the Tremé neighborhood, where we will talk about the historical origins of jazz and discuss one of the jazz greats, Armstrong himself. This is a walking tour. From here, we will begin to make our way to the popular Marigny neighborhood, weaving our way thru the French Quarter and visiting some sites of great jazz importance- or maybe catching a streetcar, depending on the time. Marigny is a hip nightlife area that appeals to New Orleanians and visitors alike, and I will lead the way, making sure to point out a few popular haunts and stories of the Big Easy. And, as soon as we arrive at Frenchmen Street, one of the largest concentration of live music venues in the city, I will take you inside some of my favorites. Let’s top it off with some lagniappe- you will receive a beer (or2) on me at one of the stops. P.s. you’re welcome to purchase additional beverages as, and when, you want them. Afterwards, we’ll end the tour at the nightly art market. This is another lively spot where the city’s artists show off their best work, and there’s plenty to see.
