Thanks to a special line dedicated for guides, we will enter together quickly inside of the museum. In the medieval part of the palace, I will first briefly outline, thanks to illustrations and reconstitutions, the 800 years of history of Louvre. We will then discover a selection of artworks of the museum and understand what make them so special(of course the icons such as Mona Lisa, Venus of Milo, winged Victory of Samothrace, Michelangelo's Slaves, the Egyptian Sphinx, and many more that will surprise you such as a roman momie...). At same time, we will enjoy the palace looking at the beautiful rooms and ceilings(throne room, moat, gallery of Apollo, Marly courtyards,...). This will always be fun and informative thanks to many anecdotes that I have collected over years. If you have particular interests, I will of course adapt the program to your tastes.
My name is Carine, I am a parisienne and a certified museum guide (and the only guide for that experience...). You can know more about me on instagram @ourfriendinParis I have studied art history at Ecole du Louvre so this museum is a bit like my second home. Therefore, I would love to share with you all the secrets of this beautiful palace turned into a museum and above all my love for art. My pleasure is to surprise you, to adapt to your taste. I propose different tours in Paris and am always happy to interact to help you prepare your perfect stay. History of Louvre from medieval period. A selection of Masterpieces and more secret artworks. Beautiful Courtyards and Apartments of the palace. We will of course not cover the whole museum but you will have a very good overview of the museum. In the end, I will provide you a map and tips to continue your visit. I am also proposing a second visit "Louvre off the beaten roads" for curious and courageous guests(thanks Dana for that suggestion).
Museum ticket : you need either a Museum Pass or a ticket from the official website of Louvre(https://www.ticketlouvre.fr/louvre/b2c/index.cfm/calendar/eventCode/MusWeb). The museum is free for under 18s/under 26 EEA - id required
If you want a privatized tour, I can propose you a fun treasure hunt for your family or a more thematic visit(Egyptian or Mesopotamian Art, French, Flemish or Italian School) . Happy to discuss that!
