In this workshop, you'll make a sterling silver ring through the silversmithing "fabrication" technique. Learn the basics of texturing metal, forming metal with mandrels and hammers, soldering (yes, you'll play with fire!), and decorative finishing and leave with a beautiful handmade ring that will last a lifetime! This is not just some craft project. You will be working on the same tools that I use myself as a professional silversmith and your ring will be professional quality. It's always a fun evening! You'll be floored by what you can create!
I came to Chicago as a professional actor a decade ago, but while here I fell in love with my true passion: metalwork! I took a weekend class over 8 years ago, and I couldn't stop creating. Now, I'm a full-time silversmith with my own custom and handmade jewelry business and a studio and storefront in Chicago's prestigious Old Town neighborhood. I like to say that I'm 70% classroom-taught and 30% self-taught. I want to share my passion with you...who knows, maybe metal work will be your new obsession!
