The Unusual Turin tour is the most complete combination of a very informative walking tour through the touristic and non-touristic spots of Turin (special buildings, unique cafes, authentic places with traditions and intriguing stories, hidden gems, private residential courtyards, hidden churches and their treasures, even underground) + a stop in a special cafe for a good coffee, rest and chat. - Why is there a "devil" in the Royal Church? - Where's "Mussolini's finger"? - Why are there 18 km of underground tunnels and arcades? - Have you ever heard about Turin's tragedy? My style is ironical, informal, friendly and with an interactive point of view, for curious people who want to be amazed by the city: forget about the guides with the umbrella, their list of dates and big groups! Consider me like your LOCAL FRIEND, not a guide! I recommend this tour those want to understand the city with a local who knows many fascinating stories and unique places that you could not otherwise find. Do not just expect to walk and listen: get ready to chat, discuss the past, present and future of Turin, way beyond what's on the surface, in a journey backwards from 2020 to 15 BC! ✓✓✓ Please write to me BEFORE booking since, depending on your time availability and language, maybe another day/hour would fit you better (the tour can be in 4 languages). I want to provide what I look for when I travel: good places to visit, good company and good food! Consider me your LOCAL FRIEND, not a guide! I was born and raised in Turin and I am graduated in Art and Cinema History at the University of Turin. I am a teacher of Italian for foreigners and speak also English, French, Spanish and some Portuguese. In 2010 I started to work for some relocation companies that support the expats in their "new life" in Turin and for several companies that provide them private language tutoring. Being a teacher of Italian, it can also be a chance for you to practice your Italian and ask me whatever you want. I'll be at your complete disposal for any questions you may have about Turin (or Italy): what to visit, where to eat, transport, culture, language, etc. to make your experience as useful as possible.
- One typical COFFEE ex: Bicerin, Marocchino, barley coffee/cappuccino
- Written RECAP of the places we have visited with practical information
- LIST of Turin's attractions/restaurants/gelato shops/activities with price, opening hours, tips
We'll walk for 3.5/4 hours in ALL central districts (market area, Baroque, Medieval, Roman, Fascist ditricts), partially under the arcades (good when it rains!). We well pass by popular piazzas/streets too, but I will make you see them from another perspective and with other eyes. Since I'll also share with you my best tips to enjoy the rest of your stay, I suggest you to join me on your very first day, so you'll be able to skip tourist traps.
The tour might be bilingual, so I might ask you to change the booked date if better for you and your language understanding. The tour will take place in any weather conditions (even rain and very hot/cold weather). If you don't find availability, write to me and I'll see what I can do!
