You’ll start out by meeting me at my home, where my studio is. It’s a cozy cottage in the hills of Northeast Los Angeles, about 10 minutes from downtown. I provide complimentary craft beer, la croix, hot tea or a glass of wine to sip on while you throw. I can host up to five guests at a time and I’ll give demonstrations, helping out with tricks and techniques to get you going. I am happy to offer as much guidance as you wish, usually the first hour is lots of specific instruction and the second hour is a chance to experiment and practice while I remain close to help as needed. During your class you’ll get a chance to create as many pieces as you have time for. Everyone is different, some students might finish half a dozen pieces of pottery while others might spend nearly the whole class perfecting just a couple. The price includes a piece of pottery to take home. If you want to keep additional pieces there is an additional charge of $10 per piece and they take 4-8 weeks to be fired and glazed. You will have the option to choose your glaze color.
I’m a ceramic artist working in Los Angeles. I’ve been working with ceramics for 6 years and teaching for two. I love to share this passion of mine. My studio is part of my home and even after all this time I am still completely in love with having my hands in clay. I hope by the end of our session you’ll understand why this practice is so fun, challenging and meditative.
Craft beer and wines will be here for you to enjoy. Filtered water, La Croix and tea is also available.
Clay, pottery wheel, aprons, tools and more! Extra covering in the form of ponchos or shoe protectors available by request.
We will be working out of my personal studio which is part of my home but separate from my living space.
