To thoroughly experience a culture, one must first understand the food of that culture. ~ Lilly’s Cozy Cove There is no better way to understand a culture’s food than by sinking first your own hands into it, and then your teeth. And while at it, how about a brush-up course on your kitchen knife skills? Just like our Croatian/American marriage, we offer one-of-a-kind fusion of Croatian/American traditional, home-cooked meal and knife-skills class. We begin our class with the most important kitchen skill - knife-skills class. Each student's experience includes: Sanitation and safety Knife skills Time management/ prioritization Specific skills related to skills like Peka cookery techniques; cleaning fresh, whole fish; or finer points of making homemade pasta Have a ton of fun playing with food Class will end with ručak (lunch), to include a platter of local meat and cheeses, main course and sides, coffee/tea and dessert. A bottle of wine for 4 comes with dinner, as well as sparkling or still water and home-made herbal juice.

I began my culinary career at Joliet Junior College near Chicago in 1980, after which I worked as a chef for Stouffer, Marriott and Hilton hotels in the US. Settling in Asheville, N. Carolina, I worked as a chef at Trevi, an Italian restaurant. Next, my passion for cooking took me into an educational kitchen, teaching all ages. At this stage of my cooking career, I teach our guests how to efficiently create home-made meals. For me, the magic in serving hand-crafted food to small groups, is in creating a more personal experience and spending more time in finding quality, local ingredients.

Our cooking class takes place in our B&B kitchen, equipped to prepare food for our guests. Meal is served in the comfort and privacy of our own backyard patio.
