The Louvre is the world's biggest museum with its own 800 year old history, full of mysteries, secrets and treasures. From the ancient fortress to sumptuous appartments, it is like walking through a living time machine. We will start under the Pyramid and explore the most famous parts of the Louvre. Discover the civilisations of Greece and Rome, learn about the art of the Italian Renaissance, the mysterious power of Mona Lisa and the amazing destinies of some of the greatest heroes of history. As well as historical facts we will also learn a little about art appreciation with my own insider knowledge as an artist. This tour can be customised to suit any specific interests/school curriculum etc. PS: Itinerary may be adapted in case of room closures.
I am a qualified art historian and professional portrait painter (instagram @katechartierportraits, award winner Paris Salon 2019) My experience bringing up 2 lively, non academic, culture-allergic boys has made me passionate about finding ways to make learning fun. 3 years teaching English in primary schools taught me sound educational methods. The Louvre is the most extraordinary place to bring art and history alive. A picture really does speak a thousand words and small nuggets of knowledge can form the beginnings of a lifetime love of art and history.
